One of the best books I have read on getting old and dying is "Being Mortal" by Atul Gawande. He also writes about how it is actually possible to fund decent aged care - very interesting.

I would hate to get ill or old if I lived in the US. It's scary, and yes, the situation is a result of those in power having no conscience and blaming the poor for their situation.
