I simply cut down on the foods I identified as contributing to my high cholesterol (which had crept up without me realising, and the doctor gave me a warning). Snack things mainly, like chips, peanut butter, cheap margarine instead of the low-cholesterol kind, red meat, too much cheese. I have definitely noticed a smaller tummy, a small weight loss - and when I travelled for a week and ate more processed stuff again, back it came!
