Here we are at the end of December and I wonder how many of you wrote as much as you wanted to this year?

Did you write a novel?

Did you write a collection of short stories?

Did you write at least one article a week for Medium, or whatever publication you are into?

Did you write 12 picture books or a couple of middle grade novels?

No? Do you know why not?

I have spent years battling with my procrastination. Have I got it beat? No, we’re still wrestling BUT these days, I’m winning more than I’m losing.

On the days when I can say I wrote (or rewrote if I’m in revision mode), I feel better. That “feeling better” gained gradual momentum until I started to make writing more of a habit than finding excuses.

Another reason is that I set myself deadlines. My new crime novel, Woman, Missing, was published in July this year, and I wanted to have the sequel finished…
