Here’s a BIG Tip for Restaurant Owners Everywhere (But Especially in Tourist Areas)
A great way to make friends and get lots of SM recommendations
This time while overseas, I’ve been travelling alone. Haven’t done this since before the pandemic, so it’s been interesting to cruise along and analyze as I go. Not that I set out to do this, but … there are a lot of solo travelers these days, including me, and for the first time, I’ve started to feel … pushed out.
Not just stared at a bit (especially when I read at the table), but literally made to feel unwelcome.
Okay, I totally get it. You see one person and you think — times are tough and I need two or four people on that table. But you have no idea who I am. For example, I might be a social media influencer (for solo traveler networks) who’s about to give you a 1 star review for making me feel unwanted! I’m not, but I am here now writing this article!
I could also be a reviewer for a website whose dinner partner might not make it. I could be a billionaire who just likes eating alone and ordering really expensive menu items. I could even be a famous person out for a night incognito who just wants to eat and drink wine in peace for a change. How would any restaurant person know just by looking and judging?
