Dancing To The Tune: Poem

A villanelle

Photo by Tikkho Maciel on Unsplash

My life spins round and round like country dancers
Circling in and back, repeating timeless steps.
My mother died. I cannot have my questions answered.

Childhood years were full of games, and chanted
rhymes for luck to save me from the depths.
My life spins round and round like country dancers.
